The subtitle of the biology forum reads "Life and it's functions..."

It should be "Life and its functions..."

Funny how spelling mistakes can live on for years right in front of everyone's eyes. It guess it's one of those things that no one ever reads. Maybe you should remove it altogether. Wink

I noticed that but didn't think it was worth worrying about. That error is common enough that it will probably be standard spelling some day.

Actually any genitive formed by adding "'s" is a misspelling, or was until the error was made often enough to become standard.

In the 16th century, we had two ways of forming a genitive - adding an s (with no apostrophe) or what was called the his-genitive. You could say "the Kings court" or "the King his court" and it would mean the same. When people wrote "the Kings court" they thought they were contracting "the King his court" so added the apostrophe. The stupid thing was they did it for feminine and neuter words too, like "the Queen's court" even though nobody would have said "the Queen his court."

Found another one, should be Verne for Jules Verne (unless they mean Henri Vernes).

Well, if you run out of ideas, you either make them up or get really picky. This means that the forum is more or less in check.
