If I had to LIVE in a democracy (if I was forced to), well, I am hoping that the person in power is not a puppet, that the person's BEST QUALITY is EXERCISING RESTRAINT while in power (so we can all have fun)..............the person who can from time to time tell people to exercise restraint...........................like, "keep it down a little, the cops might come".
A person who can exercise the promotion of necessary restraint...........not someone you can take over the edge via the presentation of an aggressive and enthusiastic people for destruction. _________________ God is here for "good".....he ain't leaving. |

You dont' get it. Democratic process means the person in power is you.
I think you're griping about representative governance, which is not exactly democratic... |

Are you referring to the tendency of any large body of government (by which I mean one with a lot of people in it) to be stupider than the sum of its parts? I don't disagree that sometimes a small ruling class, or individual ruler can be smarter or more prudent than the people they rule. (At least better informed, since they have nothing better to do than read about international politics all day)
The problem under such governments is that people are too often forced to abide by decisions they don't agree with, leading to massive malcontent. That grinds the gears of the whole system. The ease of implementing policies, and maintaining the system as a whole, when the majority of people are willingly consenting to it offsets the tendency of the people to make foolish or poorly thought out decisions. |
