I played piano for 7 years as a child, but my parents couldn't afford the lessons anymore, and I soon stopped playing regularly, so I'm a mediocre musician, but I can read music lol.

I own a guitar and a flute also but don't play them, and I played trumpet for 3 years in high school.

Hey Pen, whatcha got ? I did own up to twelve guitars at one point, but over the years sold most of 'em, including a Strat and Les Paul (Fender and Gibson, of course).

For the poll: I play guitar and bass, both professionally. Did the high-school/bar/hotel circuit a looong time ago, then taught for almost ten years.

I have a piano, a set of drums, an acoustic guitar, an electric guitar and three microphones, but I don't think you could describe the sound coming from them as music.Neutral

I play electric guitar, a little bass guitar, a little piano, and I played trumpet in school, but I don't really play that anymore. I wish I could play drums but I don't have a set so I never get to work on it.

Gutiars, piano, keyboard, recorder. And I'm not stopping there, I'd love to play the saxaphone.

Played the drums for about 5 years. Had lessons for about a year..but was way too expensive, so just stopped that, and started forming/joining bands...jamming that way. Thinking of selling my kit now, as I never play it much anymore unfortunately...shame to let it go though.

Always wanted to learn the piano/keyboard too, as I love those instruments. esp. drums + piano together.

Wow some of you really have big collections of instruments! I have an accoustic (standard spanish) and an electric-accoustic guitar. The electric-accoustic one has vinyl strings and a small soundbox (is that the word?), so it's really in between an electric and an accoustic one. It catches the sound and turns it into an electrical signal so it can be amplified.

Do you mean 'pickup' ? Is it mounted in the sound hole, or under the bridge ?

I'm not sure what 'pickup' refers to, but the sound is caught in the sound hole and then amplified. Actually there's not much to see in the sound hole, not sure how they do it Wink

I play guitar. I'm learning how to play "Alive" by Pearl Jam. I thought I might start off playing McCready's parts before the solo because I'm a little shaky on scales.

Pickup refers to a device placed under the strings that relies on electromagnetic induction by the strings in the coils of the device for relaying which string is plucked with varying severity. I think you are describing a standard microphone that picks up on the sound produced by, again, relying on electromagnetic induction.
