just out of curiosity, if a country was trying to intercept a nuclear (fission) missile, and shot it with a non-nuclear missile, would the nuclear one have an 'atomic' explosion, or wouldn't the conditions be right?

That would entirely depend upon the physics of the explosion. If the two halves of radioactive material were fused together or gained sufficient energy in the explosion to reach "critical mass" then yes, you'd get an atomc explosion. Although im pretty sure that modern day atomic weapons would have a type of protection against this kind of thing.
