You have never tried to measure muzzle velocity by a rifle suspended on two wires? Who said Newton was wrong?? _________________ Es ist Zeit fĂĽr sauberen

Oh, yeah, it's no problem to measure the speed of a bullet. All you need is a chrongograph. You can get one for about $100 or so. Just do a web search on chronograph.
Oh, I see. You want to know the speed of a bullet. That varies quite a bit according to the cartridge and rifle you are shooting. Try here for reloading data.

Magnum what? There are all sorts of calibers called "magnum." A 357 magnum revolver with 125 grain bullet would be around 1500 feet per second. A 7 mm Remington Magnum rifle firing a 140 grain bullet would be around 3200 fps. A 458 Winchester magnum (elephant gun) with a 500 grain bullet would be around 1500 to 2000 fps. |

an AK-47 rifle bullet have a speed of about 800m/s.
i think the M-16 has a muzzle velocity of about 960m/s. _________________ only a fool puts art above science. |

The bullet is effected not only by its cartridge, but also the material, shape, and the gun. If you're concerned about muzzle velocity, yer gonna want to consider the barrel of the gun just as much as the bullet. Put the same cartridge in two guns with different barrels, and you'll get different results for muzzle velocity.

That's like asking the average speed of a person without specifying if they're in a car, on a bicycle, or sitting down.
So in other words, way too vague. _________________ WHAT?! |
