why do people find it so important to know every little thing about everything?
especially if it causes things like the crusades to happen _________________ Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils ... - Louis Hector Berlioz |

Because people are scared, and the more they know the more safer they feel. The brain is our survival now, like physical strength was millenia ago. So instead of always keeping strong by lifting and training, we learn more.

Humans are naterally curious, so I guess you could say it is just in our nature to try and learn as much as we can.
Hell how do you think the great leaps and bounds in technogly and evolution came about, some one wanted to know something and so they worked untill they found out. _________________ Qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum- Flavius Vegetius Renatus

but what about all the division and Racism that it causes?
wouldn't it be better for society to not care?
i know that religion is really important to some peoples lives and that they tell people how to live, but shouldn't common sense be doing that instead? _________________ Time is a great teacher, but unfortunately it kills all its pupils ... - Louis Hector Berlioz |

Theres a LOT more to it than that. The world is not black and white, and it isn't all grey either, there are lots of shades. There is red, green, blue, yellow and all those shades that go with it. People may understand each other, but there is no possible way anyone, in this circumstance.
If someone believes in something other than you, who are you to tell them what they can and cannot believe in? I thought we lived in a tolerant and equal society . _________________ "Laugh at life or it will laugh at you". - SVRDW. |

| We all have a sense about us that there is "truth" out there. In our own way we are all trying to find out what that "truth" is. For some its God, for some its Drugs for some its thier Job, Kids, Sex and so on. We are all looking for something that feels true. When people find what they feel is true they want to share that, and thats why people share thier faith. |

| I've yet to have an atheist knock on my door to solicit atheism. I wish that were true for a number of various religious faiths. |

| religous bashing agian, the crusades had much less to do with religion than many would think, religion had been abused in order to justify the gethering of resources, as always, also less forced christian conversion has happened throughout history than many believe. in Fact, christianity is growing rapidly today, by means of homegrown influence (no the white man's fault.) ...all meta-narratives and founding myths of our institutions |

It's Human nature to strive to understand the world around you.
As a whole why wouldn't humanity want to figure out every little detail of why we're here and how we're here. Because if you really think about it, humans and earth and the whole universe is just completely mind boggling.
Obviously people strive to look for unifying theories, though I doubt when people are looking for new theories and reasons they're thinking about figuring out "every little detail", but every new little realization and breakthrough brings us to a newer and better understanding of just .. EVERYTHING. Making the universe just a little less mind boggling. Or maybe it's personal preferences. Or again it's just in our nature. |

I.. don't think I agree with you on that point.
I'd like to hear your case that the crusades didn't have much to do with religion. |
