Ophiolites are a suite of rocks forming oceanic crust that are welded onto continental areas by the subduction process. When I studied geology plate tectonics was just being seriously explored as a new paradigm. Many of the obvious problems in Earth science disappeared once we had taken it on board. So the name reminds me of the most important revolution in Earth science since Hutton observed the present is the key to the past.

I_feel_tiredsleepy, because it's a username I made when I was eleven and in computer class and it described how I felt at the moment, and I_feel_turednsleep was taken.

I've continued to use it since then because I'm afraid of change.

mine, rather boringly, merely is my first name welded to the first letter of my surname - just because i can't be arsed to think up anything suitably witty

Thats why I changed my name. Smile

Mine is:

42 (Number in Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy is the meaning of life the universe and everything).

5 (The number that I assinuate with time travel)

Chaotic (Megabrain the old Moderator gave me the name 'Professor Chaos', hence chaos)

Requisition (Don't know aboout that one I was thinking of flux before but it seemed to short and corny).

Overall my picture and name is the monitor from the Halo games, 343 Guilty Spark, at the time I was really digging Halo 3 and decided to make myself a new montior, namely who watches over installation 07 and Earth, called, 425 Chaotic Requisition.

Call me a geek all you like Stick Out Tongue.

I changed my name because SVWillmer (my old name was a bit too obvious, but some still call me SV, which makes me feel more attached and personal with them). Sadly though the recent number of 'socks' has sort of kept me away from the forum a while, but still I come because there are those who are normal and most importantly intelligent and considerate.

A CarpetShark is simply a ferret. I have one at the moment, she looks just like my avatar. It's also the name of my software company, which I use to sell a game I wrote some time ago.

Back in the days of BBS's (if you know what that is, you are showing your age!), I used to go by -Skywalker-, but that is a little dated now.

My nickname is based on recent scientific studies and discoveries that have profoundly changed the way we think about nature, science, physics and cosmology. Hence BumFluff.

Athene noctua is the scientific name of the Little Owl. I adopt this name because (1) I like this bird and (2) Pallas Athene (after whom it is named) is my favourite goddess in Greek mythology. Mr. Green
