there's only 2 in the running : PHP or ASP (or its latest incarnation ASP.NET)
the first is commonly used in the open source community, the second is Microsoft's version

ASP is my preference..is the most popular and carries all necessary implementation features required.

having used both, i can't claim a specific preference for either

in the end, i think the decision is made on the basis of being able to pay and for the support - big companies tend to go for ASP while individuals and smaller companies tend to go for PHP, but that's nothing to do with the relative merits or demerits of ASP versus PHP
