Hi all,

Would the Urea cycle be regarded as an anabolic or catabolic pathway?
I vaguely remember my lecturer saying it was 'a bit of both', but he did not explain it Evil or Very Mad
Could any one give some insights on which part is the catabolic part, which the anabolic?

Thanks for any help.

Amonia + Carbonate -> Carbamoyl Phosphate is anabolic. The rest is catabolic. If I remember correctly.

You would call the pathway ampipathic.
