As of December this year, United Nations African Mission In Darfur or UNAMID will have 19,555 'Peace Support' troops, 3,772 Police officers and 5,105 civilians sent to Darfur. What I can't figure out is what nations the U.N. security council is planning on inviting for support. I know this is a U.N./A.U. hybrid mission, but Im afraid to say I would hate to see the majority of the troops be A.U. soldiers, one would hope France, Brazil or perhaps Spain will lead the way? Canada has temporarily donated 105 un-armed AVGPs (Pirahna 1's) to the A.U. forces, does anyone know the details on this campaign? _________________ M.O. |

I think most of the A.U. forces are South African. I can't tell you if that is a good thing or a bad thing. _________________ "Gullibility kills" - Carl Sagan |

A.U. troops are primarily South African huh? Well, that gives me much more faith in the A.U. forces, in my worlds thats a great thing, I just feel sorry for who ever has to deal with the South Africans, I don't know if 'making' peace is what they specialize in j/k _________________ M.O. |
