I fix TV sets regularly for friends etc but there is one fault that just does my head in. The infamous horizontal deflection circuit. It has a habit of catching fire when faulty, unlike the other parts of the tv set. This makes repairing it virtually impossible as i normally switch the set on for a few seconds to judge the fault. Does anyone know what parts of the horiz deflection circuits are the most likely to fail? Just so i can test it before switching the set on. Doesnt do much for my rep when smoke is billowing from there tv set. Most engineers just scrap the whole board if the horizontal is gone, but i cant live with that. Cool
