Hello!
I just wanted to get some tips from the experts on how to study better. The fundamental principles are easy to get in subjects like Chemistry, Physics, and Calculus. But in exams I always get stuck on those tricky complicated questions that force you to use those parts of your brain that you hate using. Can you guys give me some feedback on how to really study so I can just breeze through those kind of questions that just make you feel like running away in exams.

Thanks Very Happy

Here's your first problem. You shouldn't hate using any part of your brain. This sort of question is trying to break you out of that bad attitude.

Here's your second problem. You have unrealistic expectations. You can't breeze through such questions. You have to take the time to think about them. Try it, you might find it rewarding.

I believe that the questions you describe are those which ask you to apply your knowledge instead of just regurgitating it. These questions are designed to differentiate between those who simply memorize material and those who take the extra step to understand it. Right now, it seems that you fall into the former camp. If you want to be a better student, you've got to join the latter, but you also have to understand that doing so requires time, effort, dedication, and patience.

i'm not an expert but i had the same problem

first of all don't depend on memorising everything u read in ur book and specially in chemistry and physics there r some main rules and laws u have to know and if u really start turning ur brain on and get serios while studying u will come out with other laws just by looking at the main one

the more u use from ur brain the more u figure new things

p.s
( don't pile any new infos or lessons u take every day for the day of an axam. the minute u come home and ready to open a book try to review every thing ur teacher said and solve for example all the equations u took and that's the only way of good studying. u really have to trust me on that one don't feel lazy be strong )
and most importantly organize ur time cus if u can then u can do anything )

read yoru textbook and copy all of the important notes from the section you need onto a paper. A lot of people remember things they write down more than they read.

The most important thing for me is to understand what you are learning. Learning an mathematical identity means nothing, unless you understand how they worked it out and how you can use it in your problems.

How to Study Science ? People should do a lot of hard work to study science, but if people don't know how to study in the right way, they may not have a very favorable outcome.

I've always found the best way that works for me is just to shut myself away, with no music or other distractions and study hard, with regular short breaks.
