Mathematically, a sphere – including both the surface and its interior points – is said to be contractible to a point: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contractible_space. Note however that the surface of a sphere alone is not contractible to a point – you have to include the interior points as well.

They talk a lot about homo's in that link. Ha-ha.

What are you guys saying about a sphere?

You could weave a sphere out of fine fiber made from shrink tubing material, heat it up and it will shrink or contract.

You could let the air out of a balloon and it would contract.

That article was just plain crazy.
