Ok, Right now Im an aircraft mechanic for the airforce, its a cool job and I learn alot but soon I want to finish my bachelors so I go on to OTS (Officer Training School) and come out a second lieutenant(sp?) I had to go through maybe.....2 years of tech school and airframe specific training to get my certifications all of which transfer over to college credit which puts me about 3-4 credit hours from an AA in aircraft maintenance which I will complete along with an FCC/A&P, but I want to move on from aircraft repair and hope to transfer to the space wing once I complete OTS. I have to complete this degree online due to me not having time to sit in a classroom because of situations in the desert that are forcing us to make older planes do alot of crap they probably shouldnt be, thus breaking them, thus keeping me busy. So I found a degree plan on AMU's website called space studies it interested me and I was seriously considering it for like tommorow. I wanted to know what people already working in the field think about it and how useful you feel it may be to me as far as getting exceptance into space command (if you know) and in the outside world, by outside world I mean after retirement with ESA or NASA.
btw. theres a few of the classes from tech school that I get transfer credits for with this degree plan that was the point of the long explaination I kinda got lost in sorry  I left a link to AMU's Space Stuidies thing below

in yor case yes why not , after this one you can take other .
If you have manny in the eyes of other you will be someone and later you can use your diplomas as toliet paper if needed ...

Elen,
I am not in aerospace, but I would make the general point that before committing to a particular course you take a look at the full range of options. Surely one of your officers could make some recommendations and certainly you should conduct a detailed surf through the web.

Elen; You have already taken a series of aptitude test, being in the AF, which they chose A/C Mechanics, for your field. Your scores on these test would need consideration and you have access to career counselors, where ever you are stationed. These folks know the requirements NASA requires in any of the many fields and could best advise any educational path to achieve your hoped goal. Might add NASA also has 'career opportunities' on their webs sites.
As for a second career after 20-30 years in the AF, if you do become an officer and in some how manage to become part of NASA's team, you would have been working with civilian members of that same team and affiliated with many private employers, who will search you out, to join them.
No one on any forum, in this case, could properly advise you. Going through the AF and the proper people to advise, will not only get you some educated advise, but become part of you military records. These records are read in advance of any promotion and vital to that career... |

^^^yeah theres an education center here I guess Ill set up a meeting with a counselor this week, Ill also check on the Nasa career oppurtunities
