Petition text:
We, the undersigned, call on the Governments of the world to use some common sense when distributing Energy subsidies.

Why must the taxpayer subsidise the largest cause of man-made Global Warming(Fossil Fuel electricity generation) whilst alternative energy solutions such as Solar Thermal are forced to struggle?

Why must the consumer be asked to pay extra for "Green" Energy when his/her taxes are subsidising the very antithesis?

We, the undersigned, are not impressed with such hypocrisy.

*pass it on!*

That seems rather vague. How about including some facts. I seem to think the "green" energy is in fact subsidized more than the others. Example: a person with a windmill generator at his home can sell his excess electrical power by spinning his watt-hour meter backwards. Thus he can sell power at retail price without paying for the distribution system.

Not most places. I put the target as, "to most, if not all, governments of the world", which kind of sounded better than the more appropriate target of, "to most governments of the world".

It is a rather vague petition but if the majority of subsidies aren't going to coal they will be going to Nuclear, largely, I rest assured.

I do rest easily, however.

A petiton with more facts would be helpful, though, I agree: but is it wrong?

I made people put the maximum no of details befor etheir signatures were accepted for "weight" if the numbers did appear in any significant fashion.

I would love to send it to the big Governments of the world with 100, 000 signatures...!!!

Your shotgun approach will have no effect. An effective petition will be targeted at a specific policy or piece of legislation. It's no good to just run around saying "governments subidise coal" or "governments subsidize nuclear." You have to identify specific subsidies that you object to. If you could do that, heck, I might even jump on your bandwagon.

Harold is correct. As written, the petition is far too vague. No government would pay the slightest attention to such an ill directed attack. Focus. Focus. Focus.

The Chinese government uses it's vast amounts of money to keep the price of oil cheap and stable in it's own country. The reason for this is to help continue it's very strong economical growth, this in turn brings millions of people out of poverty. Is that such a bad thing?
