In case some of you were wondering, GhostofMaxwell is no longer with us. I've banned him, yet again, from The Science Forum due to his inappropriate social interactions and refusal to conform to the expectations here at TSF.
As some of you are aware, GofM recently adopted a swastika for his avatar which, after more than one complaint from fellow members, I removed. Instead of replacing it with a more appropriate avatar, he chose a likeness, albeit a cartoon, of Hitler. That, combined with the signature in German that reads "it's time for a cleaning" does nothing for the community.
At that point I disabled his avatar, leaving him with his signature.
GofM, formerly ImaPlanck, chose to send a vile PM of profanity and sexual perversion rather than simply ask "why?" or "how can I get my avatar privileges back?"
And, adhering to the request in his signature, I chose to "clean" the house of him.
GhostofMaxwell is banned. He may not return under any username. If he does, he'll need to be far better at hiding his persona than when he was banned as ImaPlanck since not a single behavioral trait was changed, otherwise he'll be discovered and banned yet again.
The Science Forum members and moderators should not have to be subjected to such abuse and depravity. GhostofMaxwell is not an example of the type of member we wish to cater to, so if anyone is offended that he is banned for his behavior, I offer my apologies in advance. Since its conception, TSF has only had a handful of banned users (not counting spammers), most only temporary bans. So clearly we are not a forum that likes to control the thoughts, minds, and speech of our members. We simply do not think that you, our valued members, deserve to be subjected to such abuse and provocation.
For those concerned that TSF is "un-moderated," let this be a reassurance that we are watching and attempting to intervene. My interactions in the threads isn't what it used to be, but I do log in about 5 or more times a week and look for spam or inappropriate behavior.
On behalf of the other administrators and moderators at The Science Forum, let me extend a thank you to all of you for making this a forum for intelligent and scientific discussion.

| I'm new here, so in the spirit of starting diffidently I did not challenge some of the behaviour you spoke of. Thanks for having dealt with it - the racism and lack of any control button/function were not acceptable. |

That sounds fair, i know i can sail close to the wind on religion, but i try and keep this to theological attacks(within reason) rather than specific individual followers _________________ CAPTAINCAVEMAN

What has happened to sherif's post on the afterlife? Did it get too far out of hand, or did the moderators agree with me?
PS: Moved this from general discussion. Thought it fits better here. _________________ "Gullibility kills" - Carl Sagan |
