did the tsunami of the 26th of december 2004 cause the human race to become less intelligent ? did the presumed comet impact in Tsunguska cause the human race to become less intelligent ?
no in both cases - human beings only will become less intelligent if intelligence becomes a hindrance to our overall fitness _________________ if you find this place too crowded or too confrontational, how about trying Philosophorum,

From all that I know this does not seem to be the case. What makes you think that it is? _________________ The Universe is not only weirder than we imagine it is weirder than we can imagine. J.B.S.Haldane. |

K, I presume what you mean is,
once we were brainy enough to build pyramids and now we can't right?
This is not strictly true, we can build pyramids now, we'd just do it differently.
Losing certain scientific principles and replacing them with alternative ones is what I occured here rather than a loss of intelligence.
One day all that we know and have now will be buried beneath the sand.
Civilisation will rise again built on VERY different principles once again. _________________ 'Time is the space between birth and death' by me. |

Societies, have risen and failed many times over earths history. Probably in many cases from the visions of a few, who failed to pass on their perceptions. Mayans, Greek and Arab societies come to mind. Education of the masses is relatively new, with restriction in place in many of TODAYS societies. Writing history or what has been is even newer and the few that have written the history of mankind are regarded as leading philosophers, scientist or have based religions which have been followed, in general from the 16th century.
IMO; Since about 10k BC, for reasons I search for, mankind has slowly evolved the above mentioned abilities, I call 'reasoning'. What happened or why we are not still food gatherers, chasing wild animals away with stick and rocks may never be truly known, but the evolution has occurred and here to stay.
ThaCrow; Keep in mind, mankind has not always lived 70 years on average and indications early man rarely lived past 30 or maybe 40 for a few, for all the obvious reasons. Even today the motivating mentality of a 15-20 or 30 year old, is not the same as a 50 or 60 year old...I might also add; though we seem to be intelligent to our own known past, we are probably just at the starting line for what will be, long down the road. A few thousand years from now, people will wonder how we accomplished anything living 70 years, fighting over what little it takes to fight for or with out what ever improvements should happen in those few thousand years... |
