The forum is doing very well, there's a steady stream of posts and we regularly get new members. This means that the moderator team should be kept in strength, and currently we have some vacancies.
Do you have what it takes to be a Moderator on our science forum?
Here's how you can apply for a position:
Send a PM (personal message) to InSanity, Ophiolite or me (Pendragon). Describe the following things in this pm:
- how do you see your role as a moderator on the Science Forum? How would you carry out this task if you are selected for it?
- which sections of the forum do you visit regularly?
- which sections of the forum would you prefer to moderate, if you are selected?
- If you have expertise in a certain scientific discipline this could be a pre, please describe this as well.
The most important characteristic of a moderator is neutrality and common sense. You'll have to be able to solve conflicts in a reasonable and fair way, and your actions should at all times be transparent. In some instances it may help to also have a basic level of expertise at certain fields of science, as this makes it easier to spot off-topic posts. You may be invited to moderate a specific section or part of the forum.
Your application will be discussed by the moderators and ofcourse we'll handle it with discretion. If you're not selected right away then you may be selected later, so please be patient.
Thanks for your dedication to the forum! |

I would love to be a moderator on one of my favourite forums! I believe I have a sense of neutrality and common sense needed for this, but despite what I believe I deem myself unworthy on the soly basis of my age and limited knowledge within several scientific fields Just imagine the power I would probably be corrupted right away!
Can't wait to see who will be chosen though _________________ You can't determine what's good and what's bad before you've seen both extremes. |

i ask myself the question : am i capable of doing a moderator's job ? to which the answer is "probably"
then i ask myself the question : would i want the responsibility + possible aggro from being a moderator ? to which the answer is "maybe not"
then there's also the question : do i have the necessary self-promotion needs/skills to put my name forward ? to which the answer must be a resounding "no" _________________ if you find this place too crowded or too confrontational, how about trying Philosophorum,
