| I am kind of bored this summer I am headed into chemistry honors once school starts. What is a good book that would teach me basic chemistry principles while still sparking my interest in the subject? |

I read a fun book once called uncle tungsten. I thought that was a hoot.

I have to ask the question, why - in the name of anything you hold sacred - would you be 'headed into chemistry honors', if you don't already have an intense interest in the subject. You seem to be looking for an external source of motivation. Motivation is most effective when it is internal.

Around here every kid that gets accepted into a college needs all honors classes (yes, I know that doesn't make sense).
I get exactly what you mean when you say motivation is most effictive when it is internal.
I think that I worded my first post wrong though, I don't NEED motivation. An example would be like, when I learned the true meaning of e=mc^2 and did some personal studies on spacetime and such i was just amazed. I know that same greatness is in chemistry. One thing that I really liked about the few weeks i spent studying chemistry in middle school is that, everything, to the basic of the basics, is just reactions between these atoms and their valance electron levels, from baking a cake to thought itself, just amazing. I guess I will just look around the library for a book on chemistry, I was just asking if there was anything absolutly outstanding and thought provoking that I should know about. |

I believe that sooner or later someone will be going places, no matter if he/she are smart or not , but only with one thing ------passion.

I kind of read that "passion" stuff and say, if we had passion, we would take back our country like Benjamin Franklin and George Washington. If only for a generation and in certain areas as they did.
We would get our science in order like Benjamin Franklin did. Then I could believe the passion.
If you skate through Wikapedia or a dozen or so books, you will read the most conflicting God awful writings about science that man has ever known.
Only the cathode ray tube writtings, in the late eighteen hundreds up to the mid nineteen hundreds, can come close to the confusion of current multi-particle science.
