I am almost in eighth grade, so that should cover up for why I ask such a basic question.
But you see, I have a hard time understanding the concept of molarity. Can anyone please explain it to me? And how do you calculate it? _________________ Science doesn't suck. |

The molarity of a solution is a measure of the concentration of whatever was dissolved in water. To understand molarity you must first understand the mole, which is a unit of quantity or amount.
Let us know if you understand a mole and we can continue to help you understand molarity. For example, how much is half a mole of salt, NaCl? How did you figure it out?

Hi !! Sid T
I'll make everything simple for you to understand !!
Molarity is defined as the number of moles of solute dissolved per Volume of Solution in liters, but in case the Volume of Solution is given in milliliter then you multiply it by 1000 So, this is how you define molarity and it's denoted by M
M(molarity)= Number of moles of Solute
.....................Volume of Solution in liters
or M(molarity)=Number of moles of solute X 1000
.......................Volume of Solution in Milliliters
number of moles can be calculated :-
number of moles = amount in grams
....................................Molar Mass
So, i think by now i've made each and everything clear to you !!

Thank you! I always had trouble with it. I know what mole means, but when my parents tried to explain molarity, it always made things more complex than they really were. But now I understand.
Thanks! _________________ Science doesn't suck. |

Ok then I wonder what's the different between molarity and modality.
Does the molarity means the solute were made into 1L SLUTIOn, but the molality is the solute dessolve in 1L SoLVENT? |

well...Arezlist i would say that molarity is always calculated in Liters, whereas Molality is calculated in grams or Kilograms !!
