My name is Stephen, and I'm actually a history student with a strong history in science. I combine the two with an interest in the history of science. After finishing my history degree, I plan to obtain a Master's in Library Science and work in a public library. I want to help people of all ages learn and promote a love for education. My own local library helped reignite a love for learning a few years ago, so I owe libraries a debt. To quote one of my very favorite human beings:
| Carl Sagan wrote: |
The library connects us with the insight and knowledge, painfully extracted from Nature, of the greatest minds that ever were, with the best teachers, drawn from the entire planet and from all our history, to instruct us without tiring, and to inspire us to make our own contribution to the collective knowledge of the human species. I think the health of our civilization, the depth of our awareness about the underpinnings of our culture and our concern for the future can all be tested by how well we support our libraries. |

Yea I really like that Carl Sagan quote Welcome!
Btw at my university they started an Institute for the History and Foundations of Science recently. It's actually part of the Physics & Astronomy faculty, so it seems more science than history. May be interesting for you. (part of that website is in Dutch, but most info is also available in English). |
