tHEY DONT THEY'RE PURE SCIENCE FICTION.
Regan(in the late 80s) proposed a laser system based in space that would suposedly take out nuclear warheads(not exactly a forcefield), but unless you can keep a laser trained on excaclyt the same spot for a considerable length of time you wouldn;t even cause a dent. Nothing existing today can tract that well.
Any way this starwars system is the closest anyone has proposed to a forcefield in real life.

No it's pure star trek, in the future though who knows, it would be much more likely than most other star trek propositions.

Creating a force field is very easy. Switch on an electric light, or any electrical appliance. The passage of the electric current through the wires creates an electromagnetic force field.
Not quite what you were thinking of, but exactly what a force field means to any physicist. To demonstrate other force fields use a magnet to pick up some paper clips (magnetic force field), or drop an apple (gravity force field).
Strictly speaking, as far as I understand it, there is no such thing as a force field. It is simply a convenient way of thinking about the interaction of objects and forces. As Imaplank says, force fields, as you are thinking of them, are pure science fiction.

But if you have no metal in your fillings, or metal in anything on or in your body,

You could pass through the force field with ease... Cool

Maybe If you could somehow harness matter into a thin shield like layer that you can somehow dissapate at your will. But thats really if mankind reaches the sort of technology and if they do it will be a long time from now.

As stated Shields in Science Fiction are ficticious.

The colsest I can find are Magnetic fields such as those used in particle accelerators to deflect or contain particles using huge magnets.

Another interesting effect can be achieved by rubbing a plastic ruler or a baloon in your hair to charge the ruler/baloon with static, then put it really close to the thinest stream of water you can acheive from the faucet. You'll see the thin water stream divert towards the baloon. I love to show this effect to kids as a magic trick.

I beleive a great part of space particles such as cosmic rays are charged and could be deflected by a set of powerful electro-magnets, it would take a large array and a huge amount of power.

On the other hand many objects such as micro-meteorites might not be charged so they probably would go right through the magnetic barrier unless ionized, while larger objects would not be sufficently affected to provide protection even if charged.

weak ones wud be like earth
strong ones be like neutron stars
so strong if u get near u wud get torn apart
cos u have water^^
