In speach and debate, this month's Public Forum subject is, "Should the United States prioritize the national debt above internal spending?"
Internal spending would be roads, police, and military ect. the question is, wich will help the other more?
I'm sure that that's not how they worded it, but it's the basic concept. I'll fix the post when I find out for sure.
Until than, what do you think? |

I take the middle road. STOP WASTING MONEY YOU ASSHOLES! If a person could watch every single expense by our leaders, they would probably be horrified by seeing a lot of useless trash.
Example: The bridge to nowhere.
On top of that, many government provided facilities are absolutely shit. Police departments are generally incompetent, roadwork is even worse (I've seen it first hand despite no professional experience, and I managed to OFFER SOME CORRECTIONS TO THEIR MISTAKES).
All in all, money is being wasted EVERYWHERE the government lends a hand. This is because it is a gigantic, bloated, organization from HELL. I'm fully convinced that, before I'm dead, we could have the entire country fixed. If only people stormed the whitehouse with guns.

The thing I find amusing about regular questions about the US economy is when the blatant fact that its an Empire is skipped, as if the US was Austria or normal country or something. 
Its like sitting at a cafe, theres a freaking elephant in the room and you're asked if tea is better with milk or crumpets as if nothing unusuals going on.  |

Corporate interests (particularly government contractors) will always find ways to create inefficiency so they can dip into the government coffers. The USA isn't so much an expansionist power in itself as it is the vassal of a corporate expansionist power. (or several of them)
Corporations exist to profit. They don't care if it's by taking something and selling it, or producing something and selling it. The bottom line is the same. |

Great observation.
It's similar with the U.S. 'being at war' as if has any relation to other countries at various times 'being at war'. 'War' is more or less a footnote on what's happening after an American flips through 200 TV stations, orders a pizza, catches up on the latest college football scores, surfs the Web, and pops open a beer.
'What issues are important to you this election?'
Er, um..I guess the price of gas and rr... hmm? gay marriage and, um, oh ya...the war with Iran or Iraq or whatever ...or maybe it's over. Is it? |

If the debt of USA is 9 trillion usd and as I read in one of threads the government in USA has 100 trillion dollar of property which it could sell off then it's not worth it to pay debt and its better to invest as long as US treasuries are at 3% |
