After reading about the very special terra preta (black soil) present in parts of the Amazon basin. I wondered if there was a possible link between this carbon rich soild and the huge missing meteor. Can carbon deposits be a by product of such an impact ?
the huge missing meteor? _________________ "The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt" - Bertrand Russell
Yes, may I echo BumFluff's query. Which missing meteor?
The impact in the Gulf of Mexico thought to have ended the dinosaurs generated sufficent heat that a firestorm is thought to have raged over much of the planet, leaving a distinctive layer of ash. This is quite different from the organically rich Terra petra(?) soils, based on the vanishingly little I know about them. _________________ The Universe is not only weirder than we imagine it is weirder than we can imagine.
