I am calling this thread "Amateur Artists Board", even though I don't fall in that category. I however do, like many others I guess, like to play around with Bryce and other novice programs. I'll start this off with a rather simple picture I did using Bryce 5.5 in an afternoon the other day. I expect some good stuff to come out here (I am sure dejawolf will post some good ones Wink ). I would prefer though that you only post your own creations here. Here is my first one (snide comments will be tolerated):

Nice work looks pretty good. Never used any programs like that, how long did it take? I have made a few pictures in photoshop though, and I'll post them when my computer is fixed.

That picture’s kinda cool and surreal! Very Happy

I’m no artist myself, so I’ll just sit back and admire all the lovely pictures that everyone else will be posting here. Wink

Bryce is a pretty user friendly program. You select shapes, size and place them and then you choose a texture. You can then fine-tune the textures and play with lighting and camera placement. All this took all in all about 4 hours to complete, rendering time was about 45 minutes. All pretty basic. I await your much more complicated Photoshop stuff (which actually require some talent)!

Is this thread only for digital art? Some of us fossils still use brushes and oil paints. This one is West Bay cliffs in Dorset, one early morning when the sun was making wonderful shadows on the differently eroded softer and harder rock. The cliffs are formed from a ancient river delta.

I call this painting Cliff and the Shadows...

I've always admired anyone who can paint or do art like what's been posted here. I would never be able to do that. I couldn't pay that much attention to detail, and could never be that patient. I stick to photography and music for my own personal artistic expression. Smile Great job, everyone.

I like Vincent Van Gogh.... perhaps because I, like him, deal with mental problems.

But here is one of mine... = )

I also like Vincent. Your painting has more than a touch of Edvard Munch, perhaps via Roswell.

= ) Thank you

Most of my paintings. like Munch's, are in fact set in mental tones. They are meant to express mood and reflect my world of mental distress.

I don't know any of the names mentioned (well, except for Vincent), but I can really appreciate your stuff, schizo. I can at least tell a simple drawing apart from art (I hope) and yours to me definitely fall in the latter category. Really expressive stuff and (if I may be so bold) at least one good thing that has come from your mental problems. Good stuff! I'd like to see some more if you have them.

I really appreciate your comment KALSTER; at the position I am at in life it is always nice to hear some encouraging and complimenting remarks. I think you summed it up perfectly with the word expressive, that is my goal. = ) You have asked to see more and I will gratefully do so.
