Think about it, all the money we would get from people here for tourism from outside of the nation, all the money we would get from pimps, drug dealers, etc... that are currently not paying any taxes? No more tax evasion, no more filing taxes, no more audits, no tax money going to support such a bloated organization the IRS has become.

The corporations making products would be able to lower prices because they no longer had to receive that extra money that they were previously giving to the government for making a profit, pretty much keeping the prices the same even though the taxes on sales were higher. You would always know how much you were giving the government, people who put money in savings accounts don't get taxed, this puts more money in the banks for loans.

Companies would come back here to avoid paying more taxes, and buy their raw resources from other countries to avoid sales tax, then we would bring jobs back to the US that have been lost to China!

I think the economy would improve drastically, and still gives plenty of money into the treasury for roads, health care programs, welfare, etc...

Assuming revenue collected stayed the same, this would only shift the weight of taxes onto those who spend a larger portion of their money on taxable goods purchases, i.e. poor people.

Did you hear this on some conservative talk show?

The FairTax is so simple that some fear the public will understand it. It is so visible to the public that some fear the public will learn their true tax burden. It taxes us so directly that it eliminates the ability to buy and sell tax favors, so some that benefit from this practice hate it.

The Democrats use scare tactics on the poor to make them think they will be carrying a higher tax burden than the rich. This is simply not the case! The poor could be exempt proportionately to the amount of money they make. This exemption can be handled by individual states. While this does require a level of bureaucracy, it is nowhere near the size the IRS is today.

It just sounds like an awesome way to limit the taxes for the rich, since they spend next to nothing of their income. o.O
