A hunter is following a bear. He moves 3 miles east, then 2 miles south, then 2 miles east, and 1 mile south. At that point he kills the bear and walks north to reach his home.
The question is: WHAT IS THE COLOR OF THE BEAR?

Well, its either brown, white or black, but most probably brown. Very few people are in a position to have a home north of where Polar bears live. Black bears are more common than brown bears, but are not as ferocious and big and so brown bears are probably the kind of bears more hunters would consider worthy of following around.

the question says that the hunter goes straight north to reach his home!
his home is at the north pole.
so whereever he goes he must go north to reach his home!
WHITE is the answer!!!

It does not say that he always walks north to his home. If you had supplied two seperate hunts with both ending in the hunter walking north to get home, it would have made more sense, no?

Agreed. The scenario should have been something like, "The hunter starts at home, goes one mile south, one mile east, kills the bear, and then walks due north and gets home." |
